New program supports employment for parents
Rockhampton gains a valuable new parents employment program with the Australian Government’s announcement of their ParentsNext Project. IMPACT Community Services is proud to announce they have been awarded the tender to deliver services within the Rockhampton region.
IMPACT Community Services’ Chief Executive Tanya O’Shea said gaining this new contract is a valuable opportunity for IMPACT, for parents, and the community as a whole.
“ParentsNext is an exciting opportunity that starts a new chapter for IMPACT Community Services,” Ms O’Shea said. “IMPACT has over 35 years’ experience delivering client-centred community services. Our staff will work individually with parents, who are moving back into the workforce, to ensure they are offered the support and skills they need to gain the best outcome.”
The ParentsNext program looks at working with parents to help them identify their education and employment goals, develop a pathway to achieve their goals and link them to activities and services in the local community, all combined with preparation for working with their parenting responsibilities
For parents to participate they must not have had paid employment in the past six months and their youngest child will need to be aged five years or under. There will be tailored assistance to meet a parent’s individual needs and IMPACT will work with a cross-reference to a range of other organisations.
Assistance is also available to increase educational qualifications, identify and address barriers to employment, develop the practical skills needed to get a job and find out more about child-care subsidies.
