Our Choir hits high notes
Nearly every Wednesday the halls of IMPACT are filled with the sweet sounds of our Community Choir, and if they are not here rehearsing they are out performing for the community. The IMPACT Community Choir now has more than 34 songbirds since it commenced in 2012. Members not only include IMPACT disability participants but also others from community organisations such as CLS, Endeavour, Carinbundi and YMCA.
Gwyn Bishop has been with the Choir since its inception and she looks forward to every performance scheduled. She said, "They all take so much pride in their singing. Some have even said they feel like rock stars. It is always so exciting, especially when the crowd are so grateful".
Big hits like "You Raise Me Up" are always popular, but the biggest crowd pleasers are some of the all-time favourites like John Denver's "Annie's Song" and "It's a Small World". The Choir is supported by wonderful volunteers and support staff who assist with the music accompaniment.
Performances for our community are now in high demand. The Choir often packs up and heads out to aged care facilities, local events and community organisations to sing. If you love to sing and would like to join our Choir, please get in touch, or if you'd like to invite the Choir to perform at your venue or next event, please call Gwyn on 4153 4233.
The Bundaberg Regional Council Micro Grants Program provided $300 to IMPACT Community Services to purchase new banners to promote our services to the community; one of these was for the IMPACT Community Choir.
