Wendy Carter is a whiz with a brush and pan and an inspiration in the classroom.
Wendy has had extensive experience working in or managing commercial kitchens including restaurants, cafes, aged care and hospital settings, and knows exactly what is required to keep them spic and span.
She has also owned and operated two motel businesses across 15 years which included hands-on cleaning of the rooms, kitchens, restaurants, conference facilities and public areas.
Wendy will be teaching a short but comprehensive course on cleaning for IMPACT Community Services starting on Wednesday, May 13.
This two-day course is a new offering at IMPACT which is focused on arming people with the relevant skills in key areas where there are work opportunities in the Bundaberg region.
The course will reach into every corner of the cleaning profession, including cleaning to maintain food hygiene and a healthy environment, to control pests and for overall general presentation.
It will cover the necessary tools, including the correct use of cleaning chemicals and their safe operation, cleaning equipment use and care, and the most efficient use of those chemicals and equipment.
It will also teach about efficient cleaning routines – the logical sequencing and scheduling of tasks to ensure nothing is missed and cleaning is done in an efficient and timely manner.
And, vitally, it will teach about safety in the workplace.
It is envisaged that many new cleaning jobs will become available during the COVID-19 crisis and this is the perfect way to get upskilled into a new career.
