Street Outreach Service
IMPACT's Street Outreach volunteers connect with people in Bundaberg for Conversation, Connection, Compassion and Community. We assist people to link with the community services they may need or just have a chat and take a minute to relax with friends.
Street Outreach is coordinated by an IMPACT staff member and volunteers are well supported. The service is always seeking volunteers to assist with regular morning and evening outreach. Regular training and get-togethers are coordinated to make sure all volunteers feel confident and well-resourced. Volunteer opportunities are available in Bundaberg.

What nights do you go out?
Every Tuesday evening between 5.30pm and 9pm and Thursday morning between 7am and 9am.
How many people do you come across?
Every outreach is different, although usually we average between 5 and 10 homeless people. We are predominantly approached by males aged between 25 and 45 years old.
How often will I have to volunteer?
Volunteers can donate any amount of time they choose to the service. We have volunteers who attend once a month, weekly, fortnightly, and then people who work shifts and just fit their volunteering experience in around work commitments. There is no expectation of a time commitment, but once a month is ideal as it promotes a regular connection with the people we come into contact with.
How many people are on the team each night?
Ideally we like to have at least 4 people in a team. Most evenings we aim to have 6-7 volunteers rostered on with an allocated team leader.
Where do you get all the supplies for the van?
We are fortunate to have made partnerships with local businesses in town, and they donate food items, toiletries and things like insect repellent. We also have the support of local churches and Shalom College whose students fundraise for us on a regular basis. In addition, we receive generous donations from the local community including food vouchers. The Street Outreach Service is an IMPACT philanthropic initiative.
