Ride to Revival: A Bike Group's Journey to Mental Wellness

Living with mental health challenges can be exhausting, especially when you feel stuck and isolated—but it doesn’t have to be that way.

A new initiative as part of IMPACT Community Services’ Commonwealth Psychosocial Support Program (CPSP) in Kingaroy is helping program participants make in-roads to improve their wellbeing.

Participants enjoy regular bike rides, nature walks, and other social activities across Kingaroy’s beautiful natural trails.

The weekly group is building, and IMPACT Peer Support Worker and initiative coordinator Luke Arnold would love to see more people take part.

Why join? “Everyone has a lot of fun,” Luke said.

Last week, the bike group rode 30 kilometres along the rail trail to Wooroolin, stopping for lunch along the way.

Luke, who provides services across the South Burnett region, said activities were tailored to group needs.

He said reconnecting with nature was a fulfilling experience that often helped participants to appreciate the little things that many overlooked.

“We have bikes available, if a participant needs one and we only ever go as fast and far as people are comfortable,” Luke said.

CPSP supports individuals experiencing mental health challenges to manage the symptoms of mental ill-health and improve their wellbeing.

If you are over the age of 16 and in South Burnett, visit the IMPACT CPSP page for more information or free call IMPACT on 1800 179 233.
