"STRONGER TOGETHER" is a weekly column where Tanya explores key issues. This week Tanya discusses how IMPACT Community Services’ social enterprises, New iMAGE Laundry and the IMPACT Recycling Hub, are making a global impact by putting people and planet first.

At IMPACT Community Services, we believe that business can, and should, be a force for good. That’s why I’m incredibly proud that two of our social enterprises, New iMage Laundry and the IMPACT Recycling Hub, have been recognised globally through the People and Planet First verification by the Good Market platform.
This isn’t just a feather in our cap; it’s a win for our entire community.
New iMage Laundry has once again earned this verification, reaffirming its commitment to creating meaningful employment for people who may otherwise face barriers to work. Since 2014 when IMPACT purchased Peg n Iron (name later changed to New iMage Laundry), more than 70 individuals have found not just jobs, but a sense of purpose and belonging through the laundry. It’s a place where people are seen, supported, and empowered.

Meanwhile, the IMPACT Recycling Hub has achieved this recognition for the first time, a milestone that reflects the incredible work being done to make recycling both environmentally impactful and socially inclusive. From Containers for Change to our Material Recovery Facility, the Hub is creating jobs for people with disabilities and helping to build a more sustainable Bundaberg.
These achievements are not about accolades. They’re about values, our values: working together, empowering others, and creating a positive impact.
It's about putting people and planet before profit, and about showing that when we invest in inclusive, purpose-driven enterprises, we can improve lives, and that benefits the entire community.
We’re proud to be part of a global movement that’s redefining what success looks like in business. And we’re even prouder to do it right here in Bundaberg, with the support of a local community that believes in a better future for all.
