"STRONGER TOGETHER" is a weekly column where Tanya explores key issues. This week Tanya discusses how intentionally aligning our time and energy with personal and professional priorities, rather than reacting to urgency, can lead to greater impact, fulfilment, and a more meaningful work-life balance.

“The key is not to prioritise what's on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.”
– Stephen Covey
It’s a quote that reminds us to pause and ask: Are we spending our time on what truly matters?
In the whirlwind of meetings, emails, deadlines, and unexpected tasks that is daily life, it’s easy to let urgency take the driver’s seat. We often find ourselves reacting to what’s loudest or most immediate, rather than focusing on what’s most meaningful.
But the challenge isn’t just managing time, it’s navigating the constant conflict between completing tasks and honouring our true priorities, both personally and professionally.
When we do take a step back, we often find that what matters most, for me that’s family, health, meaningful work, connection, doesn’t always make it onto the calendar unless we’re intentional.
At IMPACT, we recently invited a specialist to help our leadership team explore how to better manage time, energy, and technology.
The focus wasn’t just on productivity. It was on aligning our actions with our values. Because when we prioritise what’s important, both personally and professionally, we create space for deeper impact and greater fulfilment.
Whether it’s setting boundaries around your workday, using tech tools to support rather than distract, or simply making time for the people and projects that matter, these choices shape the quality of our lives and work.
Work-life balance isn’t a luxury; it’s a reflection of what we value. By choosing with intention, we can move from reacting to leading, from busy to purposeful. Let’s make time for what counts.
