CHCSS00129 Individual Support - Ageing Skill Set Short Course (5 units)

Skill Set Overview

Train face-to-face with industry professionals at IMPACT Community Services and build real-world skills in our fully equipped simulated ward environment. This nationally recognised skill set is designed for people already working in care roles who want to support older individuals in community or residential settings.

You’ll complete practical assessments and up to 30* hours of vocational placement, giving you the experience and knowledge to grow your career in roles like personal care worker, aged care support worker, home care assistant, or residential aged care worker.

  • Attend pre-enrolment information sessions and/or an interview
  • Have technology to access course materials and submit assessments
  • Hold or be eligible to obtain a National Police Check, an NDIS Screening Card, a Blue Card, and a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
  • All students are required to complete surveys during their course and within three months of completing or discontinuing the qualification

Throughout this skill set, you'll develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to support older people in community, home and residential care environments. You'll learn how to empower individuals to maintain independence, support community participation and social inclusion, and deliver person-centred care tailored to individual needs.

Training focuses on building confidence in working effectively within the aged care sector, understanding strengths-based approaches to support, and promoting the wellbeing, dignity and rights of older people. Through practical learning and vocational placement, you'll gain hands-on experience and apply your skills in real workplace settings.
