Designed for community services and health workers who hold a Certificate III qualification or higher, this nationally recognised skill set supports you to develop your skills in providing person-centred support to people with disability in a range of community and residential settings.
You'll complete practical assessments and up to 30 hours of vocational placement, gaining practical experience that can enhance your opportunities in disability and community support roles.
Throughout this skill set, you'll develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to provide person-centred support to people with disability in community and residential settings. You'll learn how to support independence, encourage community participation and social inclusion, and use strengths-based approaches to help individuals achieve their goals.
Training also focuses on effective communication, working within the disability sector, and implementing behaviour support strategies that promote dignity, choice and quality of life. Through practical learning and vocational placement, you'll gain hands-on experience and apply your skills in real workplace environments.
