Kerry finds confidence through continuity and support

When Kerry first connected with Community Solutions, a Workforce Australia provider, she was navigating a stressful and uncertain time. Meeting Khloie, her mentor, became a turning point. From the beginning, Khloie was welcoming, positive and steady, giving Kerry the encouragement she needed to begin moving forward.

Community Solutions helped Kerry overcome practical barriers that made returning to work feel more achievable. Support with a First Aid course, car expenses, uniforms and a new pair of glasses gave her the tools she needed to take the next step. The glasses made a practical difference straight away, meaning Kerry no longer had to juggle three different pairs to manage work and everyday activities.

For Kerry, the support was about more than securing employment. It helped her feel heard, prepared and more confident as she worked towards returning to the workforce.

“What I appreciate most is that their support goes beyond simply helping me find employment,” Kerry said. “I feel that Khloie and the team genuinely care about helping me rebuild my confidence and successfully transition back into the workforce.”

When Kerry’s Workforce Australia services moved from Community Solutions to IMPACT Community Services, continuing her trusted relationship with Khloie was important. Khloie explained the change, what it meant for Kerry and how her mentoring support would continue.

“From my perspective, the best part is that Khloie remains my mentor, so I continue to have the same familiar and supportive person beside me throughout the transition,” Kerry said.

Because that relationship continued, Kerry did not have to start again with someone new or retell her story. The continuity helped the transition feel seamless and allowed her to stay focused on building confidence, preparing for work and settling into employment.

With ongoing mentoring and practical support, Kerry gained employment with a new organisation. Continued support gave her reassurance as she settled into her new role.

“I was able to take that next step with much greater confidence, knowing that I still have their continued support while I am in the early stages of my new employment,” Kerry said.
