Group-Based Peer Recovery Support Program

The Group-Based Peer Recovery Support Program (GBPRS), funded by Queensland Health, offers individuals aged 18 and over who experience severe mental illness a unique opportunity to connect, share, and grow. Delivered by peer workers with lived experience, this program is designed to empower individuals through group activities that promote understanding, support, and resilience.

Program Highlights

  • Peer-Led Activities: Sessions are facilitated by experienced peer workers, creating a safe and inclusive environment for individuals to share experiences and learn from one another.
  • Support Networks: Build meaningful connections with like-minded individuals to establish support systems for times of crisis.
  • Customised Activities: Engage in group activities like walking, board games, coffee meetups, fishing, and online workshops, tailored to participants’ shared interests.
  • Wide Reach: Serving Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Agnes Water, Gin Gin, Childers, and The Burnett regions.

Who Can Participate?

The program is open to individuals aged 18 and over who:

  • Experience severe mental illness (episodic or persistent).
  • Have recently accessed (or are currently accessing) mental health clinical care through a Hospital and Health Service (HHS).
  • Are referred by the HHS.
  • Are ineligible for NDIS services.

Why Choose GBPRS?
