Train face-to-face with industry professionals at IMPACT Community Services and build real-world skills in our fully equipped simulated ward environment. This nationally recognised skill set is designed for people already working in care roles who want to support people with disabilities or impairments in community or residential settings.
You’ll complete practical assessments and 30 hours of vocational placement, giving you the experience and knowledge to grow your career in roles like disability support worker, personal care assistant, community support worker, and respite care worker.

Cost and funding options
Eligibility for funding assistance
Funding assistance may be available for individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Are 15 years or older
- Are not currently a school student
- Permanently reside in Queensland
- Are one of the following:
- An Australian citizen
- An Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants)
- A temporary resident with a valid visa and work rights, on the pathway to permanent residency
- A New Zealand citizen
Career Boost: Subsidised program
Eligible individuals may access:
- One subsidised qualification (Certificate IV, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma) under the general training pathway or one higher-level apprenticeship/traineeship (Certificate IV or above)
- Up to two subsidised skill sets in priority industries
If you’ve already completed more than one apprenticeships/traineeships through a school-based program or Career Start in the past 10 years, you’re not eligible for an apprenticeship/ traineeship under Career Boost.
Subsidised student fees:
- Co-contribution: $10 per unit (maximum $40)
- Uniform: ~$25
- Police checks, if required

The full course cost is $1,000 ($250 per unit), and flexible payment plans can be arranged.
Entry requirements
- Be a new or existing community services and health industry worker
- Work in a role that involves direct client care or support
- Hold a Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent)
- Have been employed by the same employer for at least 4 weeks
- Have technology to access course materials and submit assessments
- Hold or be eligible to obtain a National Police Check, an NDIS Screening Card, a Blue Card, and a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
- Attend pre-enrolment information sessions and/or an interview
