About the Position

As a Domestic Family Violence Specialist with IMPACT Community Services in Hervey Bay, you'll play a critical role in supporting families at risk, providing direct assistance to enhance their safety and resilience. This role centres on building strategies for vulnerable families to address domestic and family violence (DFV) concerns, with a focus on trauma-informed care. You will work within the Intensive Family Support Program, helping to develop family safety plans, conducting thorough risk assessments, and working collaboratively with the team to address child protection concerns. Engaging with the local community and partnering organisations will be essential to strengthen referral pathways, provide specialist advice, and help raise awareness around DFV. Regular home visits, assessment processes, and documentation are key components, all aimed at empowering families towards sustainable safety and wellness.

To make a difference in this role, you will have experience in the following:

  • Developing engagement strategies for families dealing with DFV, including risk assessment and safety planning.
  • Providing specialist advice to the Intensive Family Support (IFS) team and identifying tailored case plans for families at risk.
  • Demonstrating a high level of interpersonal and communication skills, especially with vulnerable populations.
